Manteca’s heavily used senior center is about to get an upgrade.

The Manteca City Council Tuesday awarded a $450,200 bid to Diede Construction for work at the Cherry Lane senior center.

This project includes modernization of the existing men’s and women’s restrooms. That will consist of the replacement of doors, restroom stall partitions, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, and restroom accessories, and updating interior finishes.

The bid also covers modernization of the existing reception desk and flooring within the lobby and general circulation areas. Additional improvements to interior finishes and doors will be part of the improvements as well.

The project is being funded with federal Community Development Block Grant funds that targets low-income segments in communities.

Meanwhile work has started on another Parks and Recreation Department — reroofing the library and replacing dry rot.
