The Ripon Unified school board recognized Weston Elementary School and Ripon High at the April 8 meeting.
Weston was honored for having the highest attendance rate for March while RHS had the greatest increase of student attendance from last month.
According to the district enrollment report, RUSD totaled 3,317 students during the period of March 4 through March 29 – that’s an overall an increase of 70 students compared to March 2023 (3,247).
RHS tallied 1,022 during the recent count while Ripona Elementary School led the kindergarten- through- eighth- grade school sites with an enrollment of 475.
Ripon El. and Park View followed with a respective 457 and 456, with Colony Oak (434) and Weston (426) rounding out the numbers at the K-8 sites.
In addition, enrollment at Independent Study and Harvest High for March was 32 and 15, respectively.
New district hires
The Ripon Unified School District announced the hirings of several new teachers coupled with four more becoming certified following position switches.
Sarah Kibler and Pamela Wilkins, who were on the new hire list at Thursday’s special meeting of the Ripon Unified school board, will be starting up at Ripon Elementary School and Harvest High, respectively, for the 2024-25 school year.
They’ll join Holly Thomas, Daisy Farias, Amber Machado, Hannah Walsh, and Alexie Coonce – teaching assignments were still to be determined – who were among the new hires at the April 8 meeting.
Devon Denhart, Marlene Bautisa, and Raquel Gamboa are with the school district but will be moving over as certified teachers.
Hailey Nussbaumer is also switching positions. She’ll become a teacher at Ripona Elementary School for the upcoming year.
The list from Human Resources at the monthly session also included Jillian Brown as the new Food Service Coordinator at Ripon High, Coleman McDonald as the Ripon Afterschool Program assistant, and Sophia Fereria as an Instructional Aide.
As for the substitute, Lexie Corfiatis and Deepa Mokkapati are the new certificated instructors while Makenzie Grigsby is the paraeducator, and Wendy Lawrence and Athziri Pacheco Meza are being brought on to help with Food Services.
