Water usage in Ripon continued to trend downward.

At Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting, Director of Public Works James Pease reported the water conservation from last month.

He noted that usage among residents within the city was down 12 percent, using the levels from September 2013 as the baseline comparison.

On a smaller scale, water usage was 5 percent higher as compared to that of year ago, said Pease, who added that the city made 97 contacts during the past to those in violation of the water conservation ordinance.

Most were warned for excessive runoff or watering on the wrong days.

Ripon, meanwhile, will continue to enforce the three-days-a-week watering schedule through the end of this month.

Those living in odd-ending numbered addresses are allowed to water on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Residents in homes with even-ending numbered addresses can do likewise on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

No watering is allowed between the hours of 10 a.m. through 6 p.m.

Mondays are also no-watering days.
