Bikes for Kids is in need of help.

The non-profit organization founded by Pete Paulsen is looking for volunteers to get the donated bikes ready for the upcoming annual Christmas giveaway scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14.

“This is possibly going to be last Bikes for Kids giveaway (to underprivileged kids) as I have decided to retire on Dec. 31,” Paulsen recently posted via social media.

He added: “So come one everyone, let’s make this giveaway one to remember – the more bikes we get done, the more kids’ lives we are able to impact and possibly make a difference.”

Paulsen just finished his 34th annual Hot Rod Party at his ranch – the Paulsen Ranch at 1504 W. Bowman Rd. will also be the place for the upcoming Christmas bike giveaway – featuring a variety of American-made or powered vehicles on display.

Among the winners were Tony Lucero Jr. of Sparks, Nev., taking home the “Best of Show” with his 1941 Plymouth Coupe and Patti Crowder of Stockton claiming the “High Heel” award for her 1950 Chevy Fleetline Deluxe.

The best part of the event, according to Paulsen, was the money raised for Bikes for Kids.

“It was wonderful to see the community come together for such a meaningful cause,” he said.
