The Manteca Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW Post Auxiliary is hosting Manteca Police Chief Jodie Estarziau at a breakfast Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Moffat Boulevard Bugle Boy Café inside the post home at the Manteca Veterans Center.

Auxiliary President Kitty Walker is chairing the “Breakfast with the Chief” that is open to the public to attend.

The police chief will be explaining department policies and will be visiting everyone at their tables. The chief may also want to talk about the value of the new security cameras that have been approved for installation throughout the city.

She also noted she may have equestrian officer Joe DeAngelis bring his mount as the department is gearing up its horse patrol for use in parades and shopping parking lot control over the holidays. The chief has served as an equestrian patrol rider and rode with the Manteca squad years ago and also with the Stockton Police Equestrian Unit.

Estarziau was named as a Woman of the Year two years ago by the California State Assembly and is just completing her second year as chief of the Manteca department.

The breakfast welcomes all comers at a cost of $7. The menu consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage along with coffee and finger foods.  Dobrina Carr is the VFW Auxiliary Chef.

Manteca’s Post 611 is also planning it first Black History Month Soul Food Extravaganza dinner and presentation with a free exhibition of Afrocentric Art on Saturday, March 2, from 11 to 3 p.m. with dinner set for 6 p.m. at the post. Adults are $15 and children $8.  Tickets will not be sold at the door for the soul food event.
