The Sierra High JROTC cadets along with school Principal Steve Clark and Manteca Unified School District Superintendent Clark Burke were recognized Wednesday by the Manteca Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for proudly serving the community with a special project of carefully removing the stars from the retired American flags, packaging them, and returning them to distributed to retired veterans.

Cadets of the Sierra High JROTC along with school and district officials were honored Wednesday by the Manteca Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary.

For the past three years, members of the Timberwolves Battalion have proudly served their community by helping VFW Post 6311 with a special project – they carefully removed the stars from the retired American flags, packaging and returning them to the local VFW for distribution to retired veterans.

The VFW Auxiliary, in appreciation for their service to the community, provided a donation to the SHS JROTC – Auxiliary President Julia Owens along with secretary Treasurer Teri Keith Torres and Patty Park were on hand for the morning presentation with Battalion Commander James Danley and Taylor Park accepting the donation on behalf of the local JROTC program.

Principal Steve Clark and Manteca Unified Superintendent Clark Burke were also at the special event.

“Dr. Burke’s support for our JROTC programs is something that truly resonates with him, due to his dual career as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army,” said the social media post by proudtobemusd.
