Union Pacific plans three 65-foot monopoles in Manteca
UP train
A Union Pacific train crosses over Union Road.

Union Pacific wants to erect three 65-foot high monopoles along its railroad right-of-way in Manteca.

A fourth is proposed in Lathrop.

The single poles will be used for communication equipment.

The coordinates for the exact location appeared in a public notice published Dec. 13 in the Bulletin.

Comments on potential effects on cultural or historic properties must be submitted Jan. 12, 2025

GSS Inc.  — an environmental services firm that lists U.S. Cellular, Nextel, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Union Pacific, Amtrak and others among its clients — is collecting comments.

They are located at 109th Street in Urbandale, Iowa, 50322.

Their phone number is 1-515-331-2103.

Given railroads are regulated by the federal government, neither Manteca or Lathrop city governments are involved in the approval process.

To give you an idea of how high 65 feet is, Great Wolf is Manteca tallest structure at 85 feet at its highest point.
