The City of Lathrop will soon have a traffic signal at the Spartan Way and Central Pacific Street intersection.
This is right in front of Lathrop High. It’s part of the Capital Improvement Project created last August for the LHS Pedestrian Signal.
The project is needed to improve the safety of the route for LHS students in getting to the campus while also mitigating traffic along Spartan Way, according to the Lathrop City Council’s March 10 meeting.
Elected leaders had approved the purchase from JAM Services, Inc. of the traffic signals and components – in preparation of the construction phase – at the February meeting, with the cost totaling $107,400.
The price tag of that was covered from a Council-approved budget amendment transfer of $550,000 from the Measure C Fund to the CIP Project Fund.
St. Francis Electric, LLC – one of five bidders for the project – was given the go-ahead to install the traffic signal at the March meeting.
Council awarded the construction contract to St. Francis based on the low-bid of $259,000, which also consisted of a 15 percent contingency of $38,955, bringing the total cost “not to exceed” $298,655.
“Any unused funds will be transferred back into Measure C upon acceptances of the project,” according to the staff report.
