The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office is scheduled to update its 2024 Election Results later today.

As it stands, Paul Akinjo is the clear front runner to be the next mayor for the City of Lathrop.

The three-time elected Councilman – Akinjo was initially appointed to the seat back December 2012 – racked up 3,064 votes or 47.62 percent of the votes based on the unofficial semi-final results from election night.

That placed him ahead of Paul Camarena (1,554), Mansoor Fazel (1,328), and Diana Radonic (488) for the two-year term to replace longtime Mayor Sonny Dhaliwal, who is in a tight race with former Manteca mayor Steve DeBrum for San Joaquin County Supervisor District 3, leading 17,137-16,663.

A pair of incumbents, Jennifer Torres-O’Callaghan and Minnie “Cotto” Diallo, were ahead of former elected leader Steve Dresser for the two available seats on the Lathrop City Council.

Torres-O’Callaghan (4,044) and Diallo (3,539) are completing their first term in office. Both are seeking another four years, and were leading Dresser (1,998) at last count.

Up for the grabs are the posts currently occupied by Minnie “Cotton” Diallo and Jennifer Torres-O’Callahan.
