44th annual Manteca event this Friday through Sunday at Three Rivers Lodge on North Union

The  44th annual Three Rivers Indian Lodge Pow Wow is this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in north Manteca.

It takes place at Three Rivers Indian Lodge at 13505 North Union Road between Del Webb at Woodbridge and Lovelace Road.

The Native American gathering features singing, dancing, music food, crafts and reconnecting with old friends.

Attendees, as in previous annual pow wows, will include hundreds of Native Americans not only from around San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties but also members of various tribes from all over the country.

Thirty vendors offering various Native American arts and crafts including costume jewelry, dolls, colorful beads and other souvenirs for sale are taking part in the celebration.

Indian tacos, Indian fried bread, and drinks will be offered for sale by the Lodge as part of their fund-raising effort during the three-day event.

The pow wow is open to the public free of charge. However, everyone is expected to follow strict rules. Since Three Rivers Indian Lodge is a treatment facility, absolutely no alcohol or drugs are allowed. 

No pets are allowed.

People are asked to bring their own lawn chairs.

The opening gourd dance is at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 28. The pow o goes from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday.

*3 to 5 p.m., Memorial Song for Bearchild Family, Tiny Tots Sponsored by Bearchild Family, and Junior & Teens Contest

*5 p.m., Community Feed by the Bearchild Family, Aztec Dancers performing

*6 p.m., Gourd Dance

*7 p.m., Grand Entry

*7:30 p.m., Honoring the Mothers, Head Staff Special

*8 p.m,  Intertribal & Golden Age Women & Golden Age Men Contest, Fire Dance

*10 p.m., Bear Dance

The Sunday, June 30 schedule includes:

*11 a.m., Gourd Dance

*Noon, Grand Entry/Intertribal

*1 p.m., Coming out: April Marie Young, Adult Women & Men Contest

*6 p.m., Retiring Flags
