Jim Anderson’s final Elvis concert is Saturday

Jim Anderson, who has spent the better part of the past 25 years entertaining folks with his Elvis shows, is calling it quit in his role as the King, effective this Saturday at the conclusion of his performance at the Manteca Pumpkin Fair.

For over 25 years, Jim Anderson has enjoyed entertaining folks in his role as Elvis Presley.

His final performance impersonating the King of Rock ‘N Roll is Saturday at the Manteca Pumpkin Fair.

“I’m hanging up my blue suede shoes,” said Anderson, 57.

This week, he announced via social media that “it is with heavy heart that I am announcing my last and final Elvis show.”

Anderson’s encore performance will take place on the Main Stage, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

The Sunrise Kiwanis Pumpkin Fair is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday in downtown Manteca.

“It is truly exciting for me to be making my last stop and closing it out in my home town,” he said. “You folks have made an incredible impact on my singing and musical career – I cannot express in words how truly appreciative of all of you.”

Jim Anderson first performed as Elvis almost as a dare. He was a student athlete at East Union High – Anderson is from the school’s Class of 1986 – playing football. He went by the nickname of ‘Brutus’ back then while his quarterback Kevin Carr went by ‘Cujo.’

It was Carr back then who, along with others, pointed out that Anderson’s singing voice was similar to Elvis Presley. “I didn’t know I sounded like (Elvis),” Anderson recalled.

He performed “Love Me Tender” at the American Pop event held at Manteca High, wearing a black outfit – not leather – and, as nervous as he was, heard screams from the crowd during his crooning.

After that, Anderson received several requests to perform at various shows and fundraisers. He’s been a fan of Elvis’ music back then and continues that love of the King on stage.

A retired deputy / sheriff / police / investigator, he had over 25 years in a career in law enforcement as well as over two decades of coaching football at the youth and high school levels.

Anderson is currently a working actor, having done several films in recent years. He in three more movies that’s soon to be released, working with the likes of Academy Award-winner Jessica Chastain and Billy Baldwin.

He’s also continuing with his music.

“I have decided to pursue and produce an original Country album. I don’t know long it will take nor do I know that the results will be – I can only hope and pray for the best,” said Anderson.

He’s particularly proud of his family. Included are his sons Josh, Storm, and Carson – the latter two are social media influencers – and his wife Lisa, who the stepmother to his sons. She’s affectionately called “The Warden,” Anderson jokingly said.

Looking back at the years, he’s proud of his work with Jim Anderson and the Rebels along with various endeavors.

“I feel like what (New York Yankees) Lou Gehrig once said – I’m the luckiest guy alive,” he said,
