The high today is expected to reach a near record of 86 degrees.
The National Weather Service expects the high on Wednesday to drop down to 76 degrees and then 65 degrees on Thursday.
Monday’s 82 degree reading was the highest so far in 2024 for Manteca.
The high won’t return to 70 degrees until Wednesday, April 2.
The sudden shift in temperatures is expected to lead to thunderstorms farther north than San Joaquin County and the Sierra.
Thursday to Friday is expected to bring periods of sustained wind 20 mph and above locally with possible gusts exceeding 30 mph.
There is a possibility of rain both days in the north state.
In San Joaquin County there might be slight showers starting Saturday with rain or light showers in the forecast through the start of the month.
As much as 8 inches of snow may fall above 6,000 feet along the Sierra ridge between Saturday night and Monday.
The snow level may drop as low as 5,000 feet.
Any snow would help bolster the critical April 1 snowpack reading that establishes projected supplies water supplies for nearly 40 percent of the state.
