For the past 25 years, the Bean and Leaf Café has been serving up tasty drinks and treats to a loyal group of customers inside of the Raley’s shopping center.
And this weekend, they’re honoring those dedicated customers with a sale of 25 percent off every order.
Currently owned by Erica Elkins — the sister of previous owner Heather Elkins, an original employee of the establishment that purchased it from the previous owner and operated it for 12 years before selling it to her sister last year — the business has built a strong following in Manteca in its more than two decades of serving customers.
The shop added to its impressive list of hardware this year with wins in the best coffee shop and best sandwiches category of the Best of Manteca Awards.
The business has thrived despite the fact that it initially operated inside of a shopping center anchored by a Northern California grocery giant that offered its own Peet’s Coffee inside of the store, and has flourished even after Starbucks chose the corner of the same shopping center for a drive-thru coffee location nearly 20 years ago.
And it’s been a contributing part of the community for its entire existence.
In addition to sponsoring Northgate Little League teams, the business has also done things for the Manteca Relay for Life and has remained in its current location — 1254 W. Lathrop Road — continuously since its doors opened in November of 1996.
The Bean and Leaf Café will be open on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both Elkins sisters will be present on Sunday to greet longtime customers and serve up the drinks that they’re known for.
