Tattoo parlor event helps with rescue cats

Little Soot was one of the recent rescues by local non-profit Orphan Kitten Rescue.

Petra Fareas and her husband are owners of Death Ray Tattoo in Manteca.

They’re once again teaming up with local non-profit Orphan Kitten Rescue for their “Needles & Claws Cattoo Purrlooza” on Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Death Ray Tattoo is located at 181 S. Union Road, Suite 105.

According to Petra, this is a “one of a kind event where my team of artists tattoo cat-themed pieces,” with a portion of the proceeds going to OKR’s vet bills and daily expenses.

OKR is run by Jessica Zamora.

“She’s a mom on a mission to take on special cases of injured / sick kittens, and works tirelessly to help reduce stray populations,” added Petra in her press release.

Zamora’s Orphan Kitten Resue currently has a full house of 40 kittens with six of them needing infected tooth extractions, with the vet bills piling up.

Fareas added: “While we're tattooing, Jessica has adoptable kittens for clients to meet in the front of the shop. Last year, we were able to get 4 kittens adopted, and raised over $1000 in donations and supplies for OKR.”

This year, she’s hoping to exceed that goal.
