The largest RV and boat storage complex in the South County may be built on the north side of Woodward Avenue between Atherton Drive and Moffat Boulevard in south Manteca.
The Manteca City Council will consider the project when they meet on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center, 1001 W. Center St.
The project is before the council as it requires a rezone to build.
Manteca Development Group is seeking to build Tesoro RV and Boat Storage project that will accommodate 532 recreational vehicles on a 13.68 acre triangle parcel across from fire station No. 5.
Access will be from Atherton Drive to the property that was most recently a truck terminal. Buildings on the site were demolished earlier this year.
The applicant is exploring installing approximately 300,000 square feet of solar arrays within the project to supply power for the nearby City of Manteca water storage tank. The financial feasibility of the solar aspect is being explored and is being included as part of the project in the event it pencils out it could be built without further public review.
Should it pencil out it would provide some protection for RVs from weather much like the solar arrays in various Manteca Unified school campus parking lots.
It will be a full service storage facility with a 2,400-square-foot office building, vehicle cleaning station, vehicle dumping station as well as propane and air filling stations.
