StocktonCon Summer returns for its 11th year this weekend.
Doors open at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for this two-day pop culture convention at the Stockton Arena.
Tickets can be purchased online at https://stocktoncon.com/summer-tickets or at the arena box office.
Saturday’s schedule will consist of the Geek Fashion Show (noon to 1 p.m.) along with a variety of panels and the StocktonCon Costume Contest at 4 p.m.
Sunday will feature the reunion of Thomas Ian Nicholas and Tara Reid from the movie American Pie movies (2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.) coupled with those who made possible the Simpsons / Futurama comics and Futurama television show.
The full StocktonCon Summer Panel schedule is available at http://facebook.com/stocktoncon.
The main floor of the arena will have a large array of artists, exhibitors, and special guests – included will be Manteca High product Ramon Villalobos, who is the illustrator of the event poster not to mention artist / illustrator at Marvel Comics – and more than 200 exhibitors.
“Fans in attendance will be able to find lost treasures, comic books, action figures, Funko Pops, and meet and greet with their favorite celebrities,” said organizer Mike Millerick via social media.
His guest list includes Edward James Olmos (Miami Vice, Stand and Deliver), Sgt. Slaughter (retired WWE pro wrestler, voice actor), Steve Downes (Master Chief voice in Halo video), Emilio Rivera (Sons of Anarchy, Mayans M.C.), Billy West (Space Jam, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Futurama voice actor), Lauren Tom (The Joy Luck Club, Futurama voice actor), and Phillip LaMarr (Mad TV, Pulp Fiction, voice of Green Lantern in Justice League), to name a few.
Millerick introduced StocktonCon in 2012 at the University of the Pacific’s Spanos Center.
Thanks to the overwhelming success of that inaugural one-day showing, he was able to relocate StocktonCon to the Stockton Arena that following year while making it a weekend event.
A portion of the proceeds will go directly to local charities.
Cost at the door is $23 (plus fees) for one day, $33 (plus fees) for both days.
