Steel framework now up for Ripon High CTE

The steel framework recently went up during the construction of the new Career Technical Education Center at Ripon High.

At Monday’s Ripon Unified school board meeting, Director of Facilities & Operations Andy Strickland is scheduled to provide the latest progress on the two-story agricultural technology facility. Construction by CT Brayton & Sons kicked off in May and is scheduled for completion by midsummer.

The CTE Center will accommodate a career pathway courses, including ag science, ag business, diesel mechanics, software & systems, and patient care.

The monthly session will begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

In other agenda items:

·         Trustees will conduct their annual reorganization of the board / election of officers, including board president, vice president, clerk, and appointing a secretary. Superintendent Ziggy Robeson is once again expected to handle the latter.

·         The board will recognize the Ripon High girls’ water polo team (2023 Sac-Joaquin Section Division III champions) and the RHS boys’ water team (2-23 Sac-Joaquin Section D-III champs).

·         Principal Lisa Fereria and her staff coupled with student officers at Weston Elementary School will provide a presentation on the school.

·         RHS science teacher Abigail Van Vuren and RHS students Jonathan Salinas and Gillean Corro are scheduled to talk about the recent Youth for Environmental Literacy Retreat.

·         Harvest High Principal Kathryn Diederich will present the criteria for the Seal of Biliteracy.
