SACRAMENTO — California State Senator Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, has been named chair of the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee.

“I am honored to be appointed chair of the Senate Revenue and Tax Committee and to be chosen to serve on six other committees,” Sen. McNerney said.

“The Senate Revenue and Tax Committee will play a key role in ensuring that the state’s finances remain strong as we continue to build an economy that benefits all Californians.”

He will also serve on the following additional committees:

*Energy, Utilities and Communications

*Budget and Fiscal Review

*Budget Subcommittee #2 on Resources, Environmental Protection and Energy

*Agriculture

*Military and Veterans Affairs

*Joint Committee on Fairs Allocation and Classification

“In my other committee roles, I plan to push forward proposals to accelerate California’s transition to clean energy, ensure that the nation’s largest agricultural sector continues to flourish for both farms and farmworkers, and make sure that our military veterans not only receive the benefits they deserve but also can access affordable housing,” McNerney noted.

“I am also committed to working on pragmatic solutions to making California more affordable for all.”

McNerney was sworn into office on Dec. 2, 2024, after serving 16 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.

He represents the 5th Senate District, which includes the Tri-Valley area of Alameda County and all of San Joaquin County.
