For the sixth time in 10 years, Sierra High received a medal from Career Choices in recognition of implementing the Get Focused…Stay Focused curriculum.
The announcement of the Manteca Unified school site earning a Career Choices’ Silver Medal came earlier this week.
“The Career Choices program is growing at Sierra High and is helping our freshmen understand the importance of planning and is building self-advocacy skills in them,” said Jeff Greene, who is the SHS teacher for the program.
He added: “We look forward to the program’s continued growth and success on our campus.”
The honor was awarded by curriculum publisher Academic Innovations, which is reserved for the top schools in the country dedicating to promoting student success, college and career readiness, post-secondary completion, and successful skilled entry into the workforce.
“We love recognizing hardworking and talented educators across the country, but the real winner are the students and their communities,” said Mindy Bingham in Monday’s press release.
She’s the author of the Career Choices series curriculum and CEO of Academic Innovations.
“Thanks to the efforts of these dedicated teachers and administrators, students are set up for long-term success with meaningful 10-year plans to guide them towards achieving their career and life goals,” said Bingham.
Her organization gave kudos to Sierra High for being “a shining example of student success, exceeding state averages in nearly every category including graduation rate and college readiness.”
