Manteca Unified Nutrition Services will be having several farmers market as part of the free summer meal program.

The first will take place next Friday, June 16, at Shasta Park, beginning at 11:45 a.m.

A year ago, youngsters received a bag containing “Nutritional Education Dollars” and did their own shopping for fresh local produce.

They learn to apply math skills while making healthy food choices.

Other farmers markets will be held at the following location later this summer:

·         June 23, Northgate Park, Manteca, 12:30 p.m.

·         June 30, Mossdale Landing Community Park, Lathrop, 11 a.m.

·         July 7, Paul E. Weston Park, Stockton, 11:45 a.m.

·         July 13, Woodward Community Park, Manteca, 11 a.m.

This is all part of the MUSD Seamless Summer Lunch program for those between the ages of 2 through 18.

Nutrition Services is serving up meals at the various locations throughout the school district on Mondays through Fridays – for the exception of June 19, and July 2-4 – from now through July 21.

Lunches are free for those age 2 through 18 and must be eaten on site.

The meals are being served at these locations:

·         Manteca – Manteca Senior Center (10:30-10:45 a.m.), Diamond Oak Park (11-11:30 a.m.), Woodward Park (11-11:30 a.m.), Lincoln Park (11-11:30 a.m.), Shasta Park (11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), Sequoia Park (11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), Baccilieri Park (11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), Northgate Park (12:30-1 p.m.), Roberts Estates Park (12:30-1 p.m.), B&C Giles Park (12:30-1 p.m.

·         Lathrop – Mossdale Park (11:11:30 a.m.), Sangalang Park (11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), Valverde Park (12:30-1 p.m.).

·         Weston Ranch – Sandra B. Smith Park (11-11:30 a.m.), Paul E. Weston Park (11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.), William Long Park (12:30-1 p.m.).

·         Included are the barbecue hamburger with the fixings at the various locations.
