The 27th annual San Joaquin County Spelling Bee will be held Monday and Tueesdy at the Wentworth Education Center, 2707 Transworld Dr., Stockton.
Included will be students from Manteca Unified, Ripon Unified, River Island Unified, and several area private schools – notably, Ripon Christian and St. Anthony’s schools – along with other schools and districts throughout the county.
The San Joaquin County Office of Education added that the spelling champs from the two divisions will advance to state competitions scheduled for the spring.
The Elementary Division will once again be made up of students in grades fourth through sixth beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday, and is open to the public.
The Junior High Division will consist of students in seventh through ninth grades, with the competition taking place on Tuesday, starting at 4 p.m.
“Each division champion will earn a trophy while the division runners up earn a plaque,” SJCOE said in Monday in a press release.
The top winners, in addition, will receive Amazon gift cards while qualifying for the state event in the April.
