The Well 19 Pump Station project is officially completed.
Public Works Director James Pease made that announcement at a recent Ripon City Council meeting. “The Well 19 project was just accepted and approved for the use of drinking water,” he said.
One of the finishing touches for project located at Mistlin Sports Park was the application of a fresh coat of paint to the structure at the water well facility.
While not included in the original design, Pease said at the July meeting that the reason for that had to do with the pump control building experiencing moisture seepage during the recent heavy rains.
Staff back then recommended painting the exterior to help seal the block and prevent unwanted moisture from entering the building.
The colors were picked to match the existing structures at the Mistlin Sports Park, Pease noted.
No discussion from elected leaders was necessary on the change order – cost was $4,999, as funded through the Water Enterprise Capital Fund.
The Well 19 Pump Station Project was awarded to Soracco, Inc. in September 2021 at $1.7 million.
The first phase called for the construction, development, and testing of the water well at Mistlin Sports Park.
The project consisted of a potable water pump station along with site improvements necessary to incorporate the well into the City’s potable water system.
Among the change orders along the way included the installation of a new 10-inch irrigation line, replacing an existing water valve, adjusting existing utility conflicts, upgrading building doors, and installing a generator tap box needed to power the well site with a portable generator.
