Students of the Ripon Unified School District can make up class work deficiencies and experience during the summer.
The Ripon Unified school board on Tuesday approved the Summer School programs at both the high school and the elementary schools, from June 2 through June 29.
Trustees also gave their OK for four enrichment assemblies at the elementary level for the summer school session taking place at Ripon Elementary School. The Mobile Ed. Productions, Inc. assemblies will be hosted at Ripona Elementary School, according to the contracted services agreement.
“We’re planning an appropriate (assembly) at the high school,” said RUSD Director of Curriculum & Categorical Programs Kathy Coleman.
She noted that 330 students and 16 teachers will be part of the Title I, Title III Summer Academy / English Language Summer Program / Extended School Year / Summer’s Cool programs.
The four assemblies will consist of Mime Time (June 4); They Made A Difference: Women in History (June 11); Forces & Motion (June 18); and The Magic of Science (June 25).
At RHS, the High School Programs will be available for current eighth graders on up.
“They’ll have a chance to make up what they missed this year and what needs to be made up,” Coleman said.
She said that 140 students and nine teachers will be enrolled in Step Up for High School; Direction Instruction (English I, II, III and US History); and Credit Recovery with Grad point.
“We had a lot of people who helped pull the (summer programs) together – it’s coming together nicely,” said Coleman.
