They ranged from fourth graders to freshmen high schoolers.
All told, 22 students from the Ripon Unified School District recently took part in the 27th annual San Joaquin County Spelling Bee Championships held last month at the SJC Office of Education’s Wentworth Center in Stockton.
In order to qualify, each finished first and second at their respective school sites prior to advancing to the District Spelling Bee.
Last month, the Ripon Unified school board recognized the local participants in the Elementary (4th through 6th grades) Division and Junior High (7th through 9th grades) Division.
Included were:
• Elementary Division – Colony Oak (Marissa Roberts, Jacen Sarratt); Park View (Emily Brannon, Pehaj Dhindsa); Ripon Elementary (Pari Patel, Eli Van Duyn); Ripona (Caleb Partan, Anistyn Keller); Weston (Malakai Guzman, Emerson Jimenez).
• Junior High Division – Colony Oak (Jacob Machado, Dylan McKee); Park View (Gurnaaz Sidhu, Salina Epperson); Ripon Elementary (Jayson Randall, Ava Morton); Ripona (Emma Franco, Elijah Gupton); Weston (James Budil, Kaelin Blakemore); Ripon High (Adhyaksa Naatamai, Lizzie Meredith).
