The Ripon Chamber of Commerce’s Scarecrow Fest will again involve local businesses, schools – included is Harvest High’s Masked Minions from Scarecrow Fest 2020 – and service organizations showing creativity with their fall displays.

The Ripon Chamber of Commerce is getting ready for the eighth annual Scarecrow Fest.

The month-long event begins on Friday, Oct. 1, ending on Halloween.

For local businesses, schools and families, it’s a chance to showcase their fall display consisting of scarecrows, pumpkins, and other items outside the work place, school campus or home.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three displays.

According to Chamber CEO / President Kelly Donohue, about 30 participants were involved in last year’s event.

She and her staff are also gearing up for the return of Main Street Day scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16.

Last year’s event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 36th annual Main Street Days will feature a variety of vendors, car show, pancake breakfast and petting zoo.

The Health Fair is an equally big part of the event, according to Chamber Marketing and Events Director Taylor Dahlin.

Those attending can take advantage of the resources, information and overall access towards their overall access to health.

Performers for the Main Street Day Community State on the northside of Main Street and Walnut are being sought along with vendors – spaces are still available on a first come, first serve basis.

Organizers indicated that Main Street Day will look like those off the previous years.

This includes the Ripon Consolidated Fire District hosting the pancake breakfast coupled with the Ripon High Future Farmers of America bringing back the Petty Zoo and the showcase of cars being on display from downtown Main Street to Stockton Avenue.

In addition, the Ripon Memorial Library will be conducting a book sale.

Food trucks and the many of the downtown shops and restaurant will be open for business, welcoming both locals and out-of-town visitors.
