Gov. Gavin Newsom recently asked Californians to reduce their monthly water consumption by at least 15 percent.

The City of Ripon exceeded that goal.

At Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting, Director of Public Works James Pease was pleased to report that residents reduced their water usage by 20 percent based on year to date.

For November, Ripon’s water consumption, using the pre-drought 2013 water levels, was reduced down by 31 percent.

The City recently went back to a once-a-week watering schedule,

From now through the end of February, residents living on even-numbered properties can water their landscape on Saturdays while those with odd-numbered homes can do so on Sundays.

No watering is allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Pease, in addition, reminded residents that the free brush pickup will continue through Jan. 7.
