The Ripon Police Department announced the promotion of Officer Scott King.
He’s now Patrol Sergeant King.
Police said via social media that his promotion took place on March 22.
Scott King is a veteran officer of 20 years with the Ripon Police Department. His prior assignments include Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer.
“The rank of Sergeant within the Ripon Police Department framework is designed to play a major role in maintaining the smooth day-to-day operations of the Patrol Division, as well as in developing subordinate personnel for increased responsibility and future promotion,” said the RPD post on King.
In addition, his years of experience and knowledge is expected to be a great asset to the Ripon Police Department.
The Ripon Police Department announced earlier this month the Field Training Officer promotions of Matthew Belaski and Kyle Prather.
Both are K-9 officers who were selected as the department’s newest Field Training Officers.
They’ll attend a 40-hour training course as mandated by the State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
The promotions were posted via social media.
Officer Belaski is teamed with K-9 Vitus while Officer Prather has K-9 Argos as his partner.
According to RPD, a Field Training Officer is a member of the organization responsible for the training and evaluation of newly hired officers.
Ripon police will use the FTO position as the Officer in Charge of patrol shift supervision in the event that a sergeant is not on duty.
“The FTO position is one of the most important positions within the department, and is crucial in the training and development of newly hired officers in all aspects of law enforcement, and instilling the department’s mission, vision, and philosophies,” said police in the Facebook post.
