Ripon Police looking to hire additional dispatchers

The Ripon Police Department is currently accepting applications for dispatchers.

The Ripon Police Department is seeking dispatchers.

Applicants are required to have a passing score on the Critical Exam or possess a valid POST Dispatcher Certificate prior to being considered for an interview.

Other requirements for those interested include having a high school diploma or GED, working with the public for at least a minimum of a one year, typing skills (minimum of 45 WPM NET), and residing within a 35-mile radius from Ripon City Hall at the time of the appointment.

Along with the City of Ripon, the communication center at the Ripon Police Department handles dispatch services for the City of Escalon and the City of Lathrop – the latter inked an agreement for dispatch services in October 2021, with Lathrop on the verge back then of providing its own law enforcement after more than three decades of contracted services with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

With that, the Ripon Emergency Communication Center increased, going from six dispatchers to 12.

Using state of the arts communication equipment, dispatcher can take calls for service by phone, from counter walk ups, and transfers from other agencies.
