The Ripon City Council is expected to award the contract to Consolidated Engineering, Inc. for the Community Center Tennis Courts Project at tonight’s 6 o’clock meeting.
Repairs are needed for the City of Ripon tennis courts that, according to the staff report, “have exceeded their useful life and need to be replace.”
The project is included in the fiscal year 2024-2025 capital improvement plan – $286,591 via General Capital Fund-Parks & Recreation – with the City already having been awarded a Proposition 68 grant for $188,106 for the construction part.
Consolidated Engineering Inc. was one of seven construction companies to submit bids for the project and, at $424,697, was found to be “the lowest responsive bidder,” according to the City of Ripon.
The layout at the Ripon Community Center tennis courts will be able to accommodate four tennis courts and eight pickleball courts, based on the striping.
While the tennis post and net system is permanent, the proposed pickleball net system will be on wheels and could be moved, depending on the use of the courts – the City would purchase and supply separately from the construction contract four movable pickleball net systems at an estimated cost of $25,000.
The scope of the work for the project includes:
· Removing and replacing asphalt.
· Installing new permanent tennis posts and nets for four courts.
· Installing a double-wide gate in existing fence for maintenance access.
· Replacing high pressure sodium light heads with LED light fixtures.
· Painting of multi-use courts to allow for four tennis courts and eight pickleball courts.
· Purchasing four wheeled pickleball nets.
The bids for the Community Center Tennis Courts Project were received on Sept. 17.
