Yes on Q effort surpasses $100K to push passage

Ripon may secure new operator for golf course

Since 1996, the City of Ripon and the Buzzini family have been in partnership with the development, operations, and maintenance of Jack Tone Golf Course.

But that’s expected to change.

At Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting, elected leaders will look at approving a lease agreement between the City and Sierra Golf Management, Inc.

Sierra Golf Management’s portfolio includes Micke Grove Golf Links and the La Contenta Golf Club.

A scoring committee recently looked at three bids 72-acre golf course – the current lease is set expire at the end of this year.

According to the staff report, the four-member group reviewed three proposals received prior to recommending the new lease – 15 years beginning Jan. 1, 2025 with two 5-year options – to “the most qualified proposer” in Sierra Golf Management.

 This item and more will be included in the 6 p.m. open session in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

The agenda also includes:

·         Appointing of Kate Schulenberg to the San Joaquin County Commission on Aging via resolution.

·         Adopting the health and welfare plans to all employees and council member for the calendar year 2025 – this includes establishing the maximum premium and reimbursement paid by the City for non-represented employees and elected leaders.

·         Awarding a contract for the Community Center Tennis Courts to Consolidated Engineering, Inc. The project includes surface work and installing permanent tennis posts and nets for four courts coupled with the purchase of four wheeled pickleball nets (equipment provided by the City).
