Ripon makes adjustments to new corporation yard

Some electrical modifications coupled with the addition of a rubber board to the bottom of the walls inside the shop were among the recent additions to the City of Ripon’s Fleet Maintenance Facility Project.

The change order to the nearly completed new corporate yard tallied $7,289, and was approved at last week’s Ripon City Council meeting.

No discussion was necessary by elected leaders – funding sources for these additions would come out of the Corp Yard AB 1600 Fund, Capital Enterprise Funds, and the General Capital Fund, according to the Sept. 9 staff report by Public Works Director James Pease.

He noted that the electrical breakers and as portion of the wiring for the six roll-up doors had to be changed due to size requirements as outlined by the manufacturer. A power distribution block was also installed for the dual motor air compression along with wiring for the limited switches on both car lifts were part of the recent work.

The rubber base board was not shown on the original plans, Pease said.

Diede Construction, Inc. of Lodi was awarded the Fleet Maintenance Facility Project – a 12,500-square-foot building and parking lot – back on Dec. 13, 2022.

Total cost thus far is $11.9 million with the latest change order.

Pease added that change order No. 1 did not utilize the project contingency because that work was performed at the Wastewater Treatment Plant disposal ponds.
