At tonight’s monthly session, the Ripon City Council will look at possibly allowing elected officials at the state, county, and federal level the use of City Hall for constituent meetings.
The purpose of this policy, according to the staff report by City Administrator Kevin Werner, would be to establish the rules and procedures for the use of available offices and/or conference rooms for those meetings that provides Ripon residents increased access and communication with their elected officials.
This item is on the agenda for the 6 o’clock open session in the Council Chamber, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
Among the rules and procedures for the various elected officials or designated staff members would include:
A current elected official whose area of representation are within Ripon city limits may request to schedule an available room at City Hall to meet with constituents.
Any request to schedule a room would have to be made at least two weeks in advanced and in writing to the Deputy City Clerk’s office.
The use of City Hall would only be allowed during normal business hours.
Anyone attending the constituent meetings must comply with all policies and security measures in place for Ripon City Hall.
The use of space would only be for meeting and not intended as a work place other than between constituent meetings.
No City of Ripon staff or resources shall be utilized to conduct these meetings beyond the scheduling of the space.
The use of a meeting space at Ripon City Hall shall be limited to a maximum of eight hours a month.
No meetings shall be related to campaign activities.
