At some point, the City of Ripon could look into a new Corporation Yard.

But that’s further down the road – the future will depend on the City’s growth in connection with funding limitations and the need for the ultimate facility, according to City Administrator Kevin Werner.

He’s scheduled to provide a Corporation Yard update at today’s 6 p.m. Ripon City Council, which can be viewed via livestream by clicking on to www.cityofripon.org.

The future corporate yard is in the master plan, developed to ensure the organized development of the current site as well as sufficient funds are being collected for future development.

The current location at Vera Avenue and Doak Boulevard is where all public works activities including maintenance and repair of the City’s water system, sewer system, vehicles, street lighting, streets, parks, and buildings take place. It’s been here since the 1960s.

The future Corporate Yard could be on a 10-acre site on Doak Boulevard that’s been purchased by the City with those plans in mind.

Elected leaders are scheduled to look at the current Corporate Yard Public Facilities Finance Plan fee to determine what amount should be collected from future development along with a description of the first phase of the new corporate yard based on funding.

Council will also look at:

  • A pair of resolutions, including adopting the City of Ripon’s fiscal 2020-21 annual budget as amended, and one that directs staff to evaluate potential amendments to the Open Space and Conservation element of the General Plan, corresponding with amendments to the Ripon Municipal Code.
  • Awarding the base bid contract to D.A. Wood Construction Inc. for the Stockton Avenue Rehabilitation Project in the amount of $4.7 million, using several approved funding sources.
  • Accepting Di Quaresma’s donation of a bench to be installed along the pedestrian path adjacent to Riverview Circle and estimated at $3,054.
