The Wall of Honor at Ripon High is now shining bright.

Last week, the newest addition to the campus became the illuminated Wall of Honor thanks to the work of Rodgers Electrical.

Those efforts were applauded via social media by Ripon High Super Fan for doing “a fabulous job.”

RHS Athletic Director Rob Wright – he was recently awarded with a lifetime achievement award at California State Athletic Director Association Conference – also recognized those who made possible the Wall of Honor featuring symbols and letters of all five military branches along with the Ripon Consolidated Fire District and the Ripon Police Department at the April 7 Ripon Unified school board meeting.

“It’s quite impressive,” he said, extending his gratitude to Everett “Butch” Perry and Bob White, along with Ernie Tyhurst and Steve Verner of the VFW Post 1051.

Plans on the Wall of Honor will soon include an interactive touchscreen monitor with the names and information of local servicemen and women, said Wright.

He noted that the idea of the Wall of Honor – located on the north end of the RHS gym – began in 2017 with the RHS Leadership class.

Perry, who is a retired JROTC instructor, lost a son in Iraq. He and White also played key roles in making possible the Wall.

Others mentioned in these efforts included the Ripon Quarterback Club, VFW Riders Post 1051 Ripon CA, VFW Post 1051, RHS Leadership Class of 2017-2018, and RHS Class of 2024.

“We are grateful for those who have sacrificed so much to serve our country in the armed forces and our community as first responders,” said Wright during last month’s dedication ceremony.
