Ripon High stadium work underway
RHS stadium demo
The front entrance of Stouffer Field along with the visitor-side bleachers were razed last Wednesday to make room for the Ripon High Bathrooms / Bleachers Reconstruction Project.

Out with the old.

Demolition took place last week on the front entrance of Stouffer Field otherwise known as the ticket gate to the Ripon High football stadium.

Gone, too, was the visitor-side bleachers.

"It's happening — fencing is down, lines are snapped for concrete cutting," said Stephanie Hobbs of the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation in last week's post on social media.

She and her husband, Vince Hobbs, who currently serves on the Ripon Unified school board, are founding members of RCAF.

Coming soon: In with the new.

CT Brayton & Sons can now begin efforts with the Ripon High Bathrooms/Bleachers Reconstruction Project.

Not too long ago, the Escalon-based contractors were awarded the construction service agreement "not to exceed $1.2 million" to handle one of the final parts of the renovation of the stadium that began as a grass-roots effort by RCAF in 2007.

Plans call for the new bathrooms to be part of the grand entrance to the stadium equipped with the ticket booth counters and bleachers for the visitors' side.

Vince Hobbs recently noted that the Gateway Project is yet another part of the RCAF plan.

Work here will consist of installing a 14-foot wide ADA-compliant walkway from the new Stouffer Field entrance to North Acacia Avenue. Couple that with outdoor lighting, benches and trees along the pathway.
