Ripon High homecoming parade this afternoon through downtown area

Ripon High will kick off homecoming today with the annual parade through downtown.

The festive procession will begin at about 2:30 p.m. in front of the Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church, 333 S. Wilma Ave., traveling north to Main Street, turning right and continuing east along West Main Street to North Stockton Avenue.

From there, the parade route will go north and end on Garrison Way.

During the parade, the (parade) route will be closed in both directions, impacting vehicle travel and downtown parking, the Ripon Police Department said via social media.

Police urge folks to plan accordingly and consider alternative routes between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

Police added, saying, that the homecoming parade tradition in Ripon is a “promising an exciting display of community spirit and school pride – don’t miss out on this wonderful tradition.”

As for the homecoming game, the Indians (1-2) will take on Hughson (3-0) at the Trans-Valley League opener at Stouffer Field. The special event will feature the crowning to the king and queen along with the royal court.
