The City of Ripon continues to smooth out the sidewalks around town, having completed 29 tripping hazards thus far since July 2019.

In the past four years, the City of Ripon has put forth the effort toward sidewalk repair, maintenance, or replacement.

Vaughan Construction was brought on to provide such services on the trip hazards, submitting the lowest proposal to perform the work back in 2019.

The Manteca construction company has completed 56 job sites – some involve the city as the responsible party while the other half consisted of the homeowner / utility company – from July 1, 2019 through this past Nov. 30.

In 2022, Vaughan Construction did away with 22 sidewalk trip hazards around town. Of that, eight cited the city as the responsible party while four was that of the homeowner / utility company.

At the Dec. 13 meeting, the Ripon City Council approved payments in the amount of $10,996 and $4,944.

Included were payments for five completed sites to be paid through the Street & Road Fund – of that, four for a total of $14,777 were the responsibility of the city while one site for $1,163 was the responsibility of the homeowner, who agreed in writing to reimburse the city for repair cost, according to the report by City Engineer and Administrator Kevin Werner.

In addition, he pointed out that 14 sites are still pending completion.
