Estate Design and Construction, Inc. will be spearheading the Ripon Senior Center Rehabilitation Project.
The Los Angeles-based company was the low-bidder at $348,000 for the work of installing the metal shade structure, stucco wall, and the access to the seating area by converting an existing window of the building to a door.
No discussion was necessary at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council on the hiring of Estate Design Construction, which was among the seven companies vying for the project during Oct. 22 bidding process.
“(Estate Design Construction) has submitted the bid bond and all required documents,” according to the staff report from the monthly session.
The main funding source for this improvement project is being made possible by the Community Development Block Grant.
Plans began back in March 2019 with SKW & Association designing a 1,300 square foot outdoor seating area on the southeast corner of the existing Ripon Senior Center parcel.
The metal shade structure was purchased by the City of Ripon in October 2022 along with light fixtures and ceiling fans.
Construction of the stucco wall will surround the seating area for privacy.
The other part of the project calls for converting an existing window to a door for access to the seating area.
In addition, the project includes re-landscaping of the front and side of the Senior Center along with rehabilitating and updating the front building façade – this part of the work also includes the modification of the existing parapet roof, removal of existing stone veneer on the front office portion, and replacing that with wood plank siding – and removing and replacing the existing concrete with stamped concrete.
