The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved Supervisor Robert Rickman’s proposal to provide $10,825 from Supervisorial District 5 funds to the Ripon Chamber of Commerce for community event equipment.

The Supervisorial District Funds were re-established by the Board of Supervisors in the 2023-2024 Adopted Budget, to afford each supervisor the opportunity to address district-specific unmet needs. Supervisorial district-funded projects are subject to existing County policy and business practice.

The nonprofit Ripon Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to connecting business and community through education, events, and advocacy to promote community and regional prosperity.

The Chamber plays a key role in organizing and supporting numerous events that enrich the Ripon and surrounding communities and strengthen the local economy.

Some of their well-known events include the Almond Blossom Festival, Main Street Day, Ripon Porchfest, Brews and Bites, Taste of Ripon, and the Christmas Parade. They also coordinate a variety of ribbon cuttings, farmer’s markets, and seasonal celebrations. The approved funds will be used to purchase a street-legal golf cart, which will provide logistical support during these events.

“Our local organizations provide very important services and community support in so many various ways. These organizations are often run and staffed by dedicated and selfless members of our communities,” Fifth District Supervisor Rickman said.
