This past weekend was a busy one for local firefighters.
The Ripon Consolidated Fire District posted via social media that these events were also “a perfect example of how well our mutual aid system functions.”
On Saturday afternoon, Ripon firefighters responded to a house on the east of town.
While all on-duty personnel were handling the fire, RCFD was then called to a rollover accident with injuries on Highway.
Recognizing the need for additional resources, Ripon fire requested mutual aid – the Modesto Fire Department responded, assisting with the vehicle accident while Ripon units continued to manage the house fire.
Later that evening, RCFD provided mutual aid to the Manteca Fire Department.
This was in response to a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 99, just north of Austin Road, with one person trapped in the wreckage, according to RCFD.
Manteca and Ripon firefighters worked in unison to extricate the victim – RCFD paramedics delivered advanced life support care while transporting the patient to a local trauma center.
“This weekend demonstrated how mutual aide resources allow us to provide the highest level of service to our community, no matter the district boundaries.
“Through cooperation and coordination, we ensure that critical care is available when needed most,” said RCFD in the Sunday post.
