Ray of Hope of San Joaquin County now has ‘Mommas Closet.’

That’s the newest program for mothers in crisis or low income, with the goal of getting them to join the workforce in order to take care of their children.

“We’re now accepting women’s clothing for the workplace,” said Ray of Hope via social media.

The aim here is to help mothers getting back on their feet from homelessness, abuse, and more, according to Ray of Hope Executive Director Laura Saunders on Monday.

She indicated that the need for such a program was due to several mothers recently inquiring about having professional wear for their job interviews.

“Since we assist children, it made sense to provide (a service) for their mothers as well,” she added.

Besides food, Ray of Hope is also accepting Gatorade, water, juice, sunscreen, and any liquid hydration drinks for Operation Hydration during this latest heat wave.
