Portable classrooms may be added to the Nile Garden, Woodward, and Veritas elementary campuses.
The three campuses — all located south of the 120 Bypass — are reaching their program capacity in terms of space designed for optimal classroom learning.
The portables will be used to allow Manteca Unified to implement the Extended Learning Opportunities Plan (ELOP) at the three campuses.
The state program provides funding for afterschool and summer school enrichment for transitional kindergarten through the sixth grade.
The school board on Tuesday, when they meet at 6 p.m. at the district office at 2271 W. Louise Ave., will consider earmarking $350,000 for the design phase of the portable classroom project.
It will include planning, surveying, geotechnical investigation, and the Department of State Architect review for the project.
The construction phase will require additional funding.
The project will involve relocating existing portable classrooms from other district campuses, fire alarm and paging system integration, network integration, site improvements, renovation and upgrades to each classroom, ADA accessibility requirements as well as moving the portables.
Developer fees as well as funds from the state will help cover the tab.
