December is here.
This is a season of joy and giving, but also a time when retail thefts tend to increase, according to the City of Lathrop Police Department via social media on Monday.
Police noted that two suspects reportedly stole merchandise from Target in Manteca and then traveled to Lathrop.
“Thanks to the vigilance of an alert loss prevention officer at Lathrop’s Target, the suspects were identified and reported to officers,” said local police.
Officers managed to apprehend the suspects as they exited the store, discovering they had multiple concealed electronic devices and burglary tools.
A search of their vehicle uncovered additional stolen property belonging to Target, bringing the value of the recovered merchandise to over $3,000.
The suspects were then booked on multiple organized retail theft charges with their vehicle being towed.
Lathrop police continue their effort of keeping the community safe, saying: “It you’re considering committing a crime in our city, think twice – we are committed to strictly enforcing all laws related to retail theft and will take action to the fullest extent.”
