Planning commission to consider extension on plans for Townplace Suites

Venture Hospitality is seeking another six-month extension on plans to construct a four-story Townplace Suites by Marriott Hotel.

That’s the 54,382-square-foot building featuring 91 guest suites, two meeting rooms, a fitness center, and an outdoor swimming pool, planned on the 2.25-acre lot at 333 E. Main St., next door to Angle Petroleum service station along northbound Highway 99.

Back in February, the Ripon Planning Commission granted a six-month conditional use permit extension to Klassen Corp, which made the request on behalf of Venture Hospitality, Inc. – the initial plans were approved in February 2022.

“They are now asking for one more six-month extension on their project entitlements, sitting continued delays in working with Caltrans,” said Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart is his staff report for Monday’s meeting.

Planners will convene in the Ripon City Hall Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave., beginning at 6 p.m.

The extension, if granted, would be the final extension pursuant to the Ripon Municipal Code.

Groundbreaking on this project is now being anticipated for February 2025.

The Planning Commission is also looking at a request to construct a pair of 2,800 square foot buildings at 923 S. Acacia Ave.

According to the project description, the first building near the entrance will function as a single-story office building with 12 office spaces.

The second building will be used as a storage warehouse.

The proposed project would be on a 33,349 square foot parcel on South Acacia Avenue adjacent to Doak Boulevard.
