Peter Furler — the co-founder and former lead vocalist of the Christian rock band Newsboys — is in concert Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at Sequoia Church. 1050 South Union Road.

Furler will perform with special guest VOTA in what is being described as a “small intimate concert for fans.” It is Furler’s only Northern California appearance this year.

Only 75 tickets are available at $100 each.

The limit is to allow for social distancing.

This concert is not for profit. Ticket sales are strictly to pay for the performer.

The Grammy nominated artist has had 21 No. 1 and has sold over 7 million albums.

Furler, a native of Australia formed the Newsboys in 1985 with friends George Perdikis, Sean Taylor, and John James. He has written and produced most of Newsboys' songs, as well as co-writing/producing songs for other recording artists. He also frequently collaborated with Steve Taylor. Furler was originally the band's drummer, but became the band's lead singer after the departure of John James in 1997.[2]

In July 1999, Furler, along with fellow Australians Dale Bray and Wes Campbell, founded Inpop Records.  

In 2009, Furler left the Newsboys and began pursuing a solo career.
