The Boys & Girls Clubs of Manteca received a generous donation from San Joaquin County Board of Supervisor Tom Patti to go towards its Teen Room Transformation Project on Wednesday. The Boys & Girls Club of Manteca has been undergoing a revitalization as of late.

Dani Daly, who took over as club’s CEO about seven months ago, has seen an uptick of older students, noting that several factors including the COVID-19 pandemic hampered the attendance numbers in recent years.

“We’re now seeing up to 20 teens a day,” she said. “These are kids who want to be here.”

The local Boys & Girls Club had a big player step up to the plate Wednesday to help fund the Total Teen Room Transformation Project.

San Joaquin County Board of Supervisor Tom Patti (R-District 3) dropped by to donate the necessary $27,500 to convert the aging Teen Room with updated technology infrastructure to facilitate educational programs and workshops.

For that, Patti used the discretionary funds – this is recently approved money that the Board of Supervisors can use to help support non-profits in their area – to “give back” to the community.

“It was a no-brainer,” he said on the request to help out with this Boys & Girls Club project.

IA Interior Architects, Inc., of San Francisco will be spearheading the project that also includes adding fresh paint along with a vibrant color scheme to help create an inviting atmosphere to the Teen Room, a critical space used for local adolescents to gather, socialize, and engage in constructive activities, according to Daly.

Other plans consist of adding new furniture, redoing the pool table surface, installing a surround sound system, and starting up a Podcast studio, Daly said.

The Boys & Girls Club of Manteca is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for youth development.

The club’s mission is “to inspire and enable young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring” individuals.

“We’re going through a renaissance,” Daly said.
