Attendance Matters at the Ripon Unified School District.
Director of Student Services Lisa Mazza provided information related to that at the Nov. 13 school board meeting.
It was part of the district-wide “School Attendance Improvement Strategies,” which starts at the classroom level.
The attendance-data based program acknowledges the school with top overall figures. “It was very close,” Mazza said.
Park View Elementary School achieved the best monthly attendance recognition, tallying 97.24 percent for October.
Principal Victor Ramirez accepted the first-ever RUSD “congratulations” banner, which will go to the school with the top attendance numbers per month.
Park View edged out Ripon Elementary (96.48) and Colony Oak (96.47) for the honor.
The school attendance program consists of the top classes receiving recognition at the respective assemblies.
The top students are also honored.
Those top classes are also celebrated with a menu of reward items along with an attendance flag and other perks for their effort.
The program, in addition, offers assistance to help students with frequent absences in a variety of ways.
As for the enrollment figures for the third month (Oct. 2 through Oct. 27), Ripona led the elementary school sites with a count of 472 students – ahead of Park View (453), Ripon El (452), Colony Oak (444), and Weston (432).
Ripon High had 1,026, Harvest High tallied 24, and Independent Study accounted for 22 students during that span in October.
