Online registration starts Monday at Ripon High

The start of the new school year is only a few weeks away at Ripon Unified.

At Ripon High, students can begin online registration for the 2023-2024 school year next Monday (July 24) at www.riponhigh.net.

They return to the classroom on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Here are other important dates at RHS:

·         Wednesday, Aug. 2 – Pow Wow registration for seniors and juniors, beginning at 8 a.m. Students can pick up their class schedules, text books, and Chromebooks throughout the morning. 

·         Thursday, Aug. 3 – Pow Wow registration for sophomores and freshmen, beginning at 8 a.m. Students can pick up class schedules, check out text books and electronic devices.

·         Tuesday, Aug. 8 – Freshmen and new student orientation. Link Crew leaders will spearhead ice-breaking type activities to help the newcomers get acclimated to their new surroundings.

Ripon Unified closes school

year with 3,242 students

The Ripon Unified School District reported a closing enrollment of 3,242 students for the 2022-2023 school year.

That’s five fewer (3,247) than a year ago at this time and one more (3,241) compared to two years ago.

The latest tally was for the 10th month of this school year, from May 1 to May 26.

Ripon High reported 952 students. Independent Study and the alternative education site, Harvest High, both closed out the school year with 18 students each.

Ripona led the elementary school sites with an enrollment of 473, followed by Park View (449), Ripon El. (447), Weston (444), and Colony Oak (441).

 

New district hires

Ripon High is getting a new Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp instructor and a special education Resource Specialist teacher.

Daniel Pacheco (JROTC) and Jacob Perry (RSP) are the newcomers to the high school, as listed among the new hires at last month’s Ripon Unified school board meeting.

Katelyn Wayman is being brought on the Ripon Afterschool Program at Ripon Elementary School.

RUSD added a pair of substitute employees in Yesenia Vasquez (clerical) and Kaytlynn Ellis (LVN).

At an earlier June meeting, the  Ripon Unified School District brought on board eight lifeguards / swim instructors at Ripon High’s Ervin Zador Aquatic Center.

They are Lauren Ellis, Gianna Ramos, Owen Curtiss, Keira Brink, Amy Fedeff, Valerie Chun, Crystallynn Tran, and Madeline Staley.

Other hires included library media clerk Tammy (RHS), school psychologist Vanessa Jimenez (Ripona Elementary / Colony Oak Elementary), Title I aide Jennifer Lawrence (Ripon Elementary), Title I aide Zaira Gutierrez (Ripona), yard duty Marlo Villanueva (Weston Elementary), yard duty / paraprofessional Kristy Haro (Weston), licensed vocational nurse Katherine Smith (Ripona / Colony Oak), custodial substitute Shane Johnson (district office), and instructional aide substitute Sherial Sorial (district office).

In addition, the Ripon Afterschool Program at Ripon Elementary will welcome new hires Hailey Gushrowski, Lorelai Parreira, Emma Phelps, Hailey Loechler, Mannex Do, Molly Burton, and Brianna Alba.
