Justin Roiland — one of the most successful artists ever to hail from Manteca — is providing the Manteca Rotary online auction that starts today with a unique offering.
It is limited edition of a “Rick and Morty” skateboard deck he commissioned as a thank-you for the crew that helped produce the Adult Swim amination series first season in 2013. The deck board is autographed by Roiland.
Not only is Roiland a co-creator of “Rick and Morty” — now in its ninth season — but he is also a writer, executive producer and director as well as voicing Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith plus other characters.
The 42-year-old attended Sierra High through the first quarter of his senior year before transferring to Manteca High, graduating in 1998. He also attended Modesto Junior College.
He has earned two Prime Time Emmy Awards as well as a number of other awards including IGN Movie Awards and Behind the Voice Actor awards.
He also has a long list of movies, TV, video game and web production credits.
The skateboard deck produced in 2013 is one of 100 ever made
Bidding on the deck starts at $250.
It is one of 28 items the Manteca Rotary has listed on their online auction.
Due to pandemic-related issues that forced the service club to skip their annual Super Bowl omelet breakfast this year as well as other fundraisers, the online auction will help the Manteca Rotary support a wide array of community concerns. They range from high school scholarships to manning and presenting the downtown Santa Hut to the community Thanksgiving dinner and financial support of a long list of non-profits such as the Boys & Girls Club of Manteca, HOPE Family Shelter and other endeavors.
International endeavors include dental clinics in Honduras and prosthetic hands in Honduras.
A partial list of other offerings include:
*A special release of high proof Jack Daniel Whiskey valued at $800.
*A one night stay at Great Wolf Lodge valued at $250.
*Wagyu Porterhouse steaks and choice ribeye steaks valued at $1,000.
*Front-Sight 4-day defensive handgun course valued at $2,000.
*El Septimo cigar humidor and 10-hand rolled cigars valued at $400.
