Construction on the Well 19 Pump Station is wrapping up.

City Administrator Kevin Werner mentioned that a recent Ripon City Council meeting.

Among the recent work included the installation of a generator tap box necessary to power the site with a portable generator coupled with the abandonment of two agriculture wells that are no longer in use.

Cost for the approved change order was about $86,000 paid via the Water Enterprise Capital Fund.

No discussion was needed from elected leaders.

“The design of the pump station was modified from a stationary emergency backup generator to a portable generator to provide additional flexibility during a power outage,” Werner said in his report.

He added: “The electrical plan sheet was not modified to include a generator tap box with camlock electrical connectors, which was required to connect the portable generator.”

Two agricultural irrigation wells that are no longer in use can be found within 1,500 feet from Well 19.

Werner noted that one of these wells were on city property located west of the well site while the other was on a private parcel at the northeast corner of Jack Tone Road and River Road.

Well 19 is located in Mistlin Sports Park.

Soracco, Inc. was awarded the bid about a year ago, with the first phase calling for the construction, development and testing of the water well.

The project, in addition, called for installing a portable water pump station and making site improvements necessary to incorporate the well into the city’s potable water system.
